Omar Bin Abdul Aziz |EMEA Engineering Head

In the field of industrial automation & control for more than sixteen years, I have been working with both OEMs and system integrators.  Having worked in almost all verticals including infrastructure, F&B, O&G, water & waste water, petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals gives me a rich flavor of automation landscape in various industries.  I am passionate about the next generation automation & control solutions based on virtualization, cloud computing, Industrial IoT and utilization of manufacturing and plant level data for process & financial improvements. It is interesting to see how IT and control layers (OT) are merging to provide these benefits.

Apart from the worldly pursuits, I enjoy astrophysics, astro-photography, cosmology and observational astronomy. Building a small home come observatory perched high in the scenic mountains ranks highest on my retirement plans list!  President and founder of an amateur astronomy association since 1994, I actively pursue outreach for general public to increase their awareness on the cosmos. I am also a freelance writer and maintain an active blog. (

I am currently working as manager projects Middle East & Africa at Avanceon. Previously I have worked at Siemens in the Industrial Controls & Automation projects division as automation project manager for oil & gas and process industries.

I will be glad your feedback about my blogs and would love to answer any questions that you may have.
